On the 26th June in Stockholm the European Investement Bank hosted a event about what financing does Europe need for the future in Life Sciences.

Lucy Robertshaw moderated the event where 50 delegates attended. 

The outcome of the event was that there are certainly challenges & opportunities including the changing ecosystem.

There are difficulties we face with everything from patents & technology transfer to long investment cycles, which we really need to educate the whole of society of just how important the sector is and if we can not keep patients well then what do we really have left in society as we will not have a workforce that will be able to work.

The changing higher temperatures in Europe also pose challenges as we will be seeing new diseases that we have not had to be resilient to before like air born diseases such as malaria.

We have seen in the past year weak IPOs, but also a big interest from the banking sector and a need for more investments into the dynamic Swedish Life Science Ecosystem.

It was certainly interesting to understand more about what an important job the European Investment Bank does and certainly bridges an important gap in the market for banking products.
